Spirax Sarco Boiler Controls and SystemsAn extensive range of boiler controls and systems is offered by Spirax Sarco.
Boiler TDS Control Systems
Automatic Boiler Blow Down Systems
As steam forms it leaves behind impurities and dissolved solids in the boiler water that will concentrate unless blown down. The TDS (total dissolved solids) in the boiler must be accurately controlled. High TDS will result in carry over of boiler water and impurities causing problems with production and the plant. Low TDS due too much blowdown will be expensive in fuel costs and water treatment. Systems are offered for both firetube as well as water tube boilers.
Level Controls
The LP 20 probe consist of a stainless steel rod completely insulated from the water by Teflon. As the water level rises, the capacitance between the rod and the boiler ground protection tube increases. The capacitance is measured by a preamplifier and transmitter to the boiler water level controller in the form of a 4-20 ma signal. This signal can then be used to operated an air operated control valve, motor control valve or VFD feed water pumps.
Sample Coolers
The SC 20 sample cooler is used to take sample of water and process liquids at high temperature and pressure preventing flashing of which can result in an inaccurate sample and also safety issues. The 316 stainless steel construction with counter flow provides accurate. Contamination free sample.
Boiler Blowdown Heat Recovery Systems.
Steam boilers need to be blown down to control the level of dissolved solids (TDS) in the boiler water This is best achieved by using a TDS control system which will open a valve to allow boiler water to discharge when TDS levels rises above pre-set limit. Relatively low TDS feedwater then replaces discharged boiler water. Up to 80% of the heat in this discharged boiler water can be recovered with a properly designed heat recovery system.
Spirax Sarco offers a complete package of boiler room equipment and controls. We can provide a complete turn key installation. With fuel prices increasing, payback on automatic equipment can be less than one year.
