Signet Measurement Systems

Signet offers a family of products designed to provide simple, low cost, and reliable solutions for measurement and control of flow, pH, ORP, and conductivity.

Paddle wheel flow sensors utilize a set of magnets imbedded into a wheel which when spun by the presence of flow generate a pulse which is then measured by control unit. Flow sensors are offered in a variety of materials and capable of being installed in lines from 1/2” to 18”. Insertion magmeters are also offered in sizes 2” to 12” with a 4-20 ma output.

Insertion style pH probes covering from 0-14 are offered in CPVC bodies and capable of temperatures to 185 F and pressures of 100 psig. Unique twist lock installation enable electrode installation and maintenance with virtually zero downtime.

Conductivity probes cover from .055 to 10,000 uS in three ranges. Units can be inserted in pipe sizes 3/4” and larger and are of stainless steel construction. Controlled surface finish and integral temperature compensation ensure accurate conductivity measurements.

Amplifiers can be used to boost the signal from the sensors for transmission over long distances. Sensors are also offered in 4-20 ma transmitter versions.

Readout and controller devices are offered to fit virtually any application requirement. Readout devices are offered in analog, digital, and combination configurations. In many applications an analog rate meter combined with a digital totalizer provides an ideal method to monitor process requirements. Most readout devices can be equipped with optional SPDT alarm contacts.

Controllers are offered for flow, pH, ORP, and conductivity with both 4-20 ma as well as alarm outputs. Controllers are also offered in batch configurations to add a predetermined quantity of material to a batch style process.

An example of a low cost solution to measuring steam flows can be accomplished with a Signet paddle wheel flow sensor and readout device. The paddle wheel sensor is installed in the boiler water feed line and records water flow to the boiler. Totalized readings are recorded daily. One gallon of water weighs 8.3 pounds. If the boiler consumed 15,000 gallons of water in a day, then 124,500 pounds of steam where produced in 24 hours which equals 5,187.5 lb/hr. One BHP is 34.5 lb/hr, so our boiler was firing at the rate of 150.4 BHP. For less than 1/3 the cost of a steam flow meter, boiler operations can be monitored.
