Technical Tips & Information
SalesmanForty plus years ago when I entered this industry, the role of a salesman was to be a problem solver and help plants improve their process, reduce maintenance costs, train, save energy, and solve problems. At least for me, I spent the first five years in assorted apprentice and learning positions before I first was permitted to set foot in an industrial plant. Some 43 years later, I find that every week I add a bit more to my knowledge base.
If I may vent a frustration, I seem to encounter more salesmen whose primary background is marketing and sales as opposed to a technical education. Their focus seems to be more geared to securing an order rather than finding the most cost effective solution to help a customer with a problem. I don’t necessarily want to cast aspersions on salesman since maybe the problem is in the culture of some companies who offer technical products and send non technically trained people to provide that product to their customers. Bottom line is sales people tend to get lumped together.
I guess I am getting way too old to change my ways but you can rest assured that all of us at Control Specialties will always work very hard to provide the most intelligent and cost effective product or service to solve your problem. I really don’t consider this philosophy as rocket science but rather the best way to conduct our business affairs with all our customers.
Since I am planning to have my retirement party coincide with my departure from this earth, we shall always work very hard to earn your respect, trust, and business. Thanks for taking a moment for allowing me to get this off my chest!
