Technical Tips & Information
Georgia Boiler Code ChangeThe state of Georgia will now require an inspection platform to be erected on all new boiler installations where the boiler is more than 8’ tall at the outlet flange. The platform has to be arranged so that an inspector can access any items located above this 8’ height such as safety valves. A permanent ladder must also be included as part of the platform.
Since each boiler installation tends be unique, the platform will have to be field erected to fit each job. We estimate that this could add $3,000-$10,000 or more depending on the number of boilers, location, and height for the platform.
Miura boilers offer as standard on larger sizes a built in ladder which permits access to the top of the boiler. We are currently checking to confirm that this will meet the state requirements which could save you money in the installation process.
If you are looking at fuel bills which are impacting your bottom line and operating boilers much over 15 years old, you really need to examine the costs of installing new 85% fuel to steam efficient Miura boilers.
We have constructed a very accurate Excel spread sheet which is custom adapted to a specific location which will allow you to evaluate operating costs of your current boilers with new high efficiency boilers. The sheet is set up so you can enter your own data and assumptions and then look at savings, capital costs and payback periods.
At current prices, a new boiler room will typically payback in 10-15 months. We can provide a complete single source installation on budget and on time.
If you are interested in an Excel spread sheet for your facility. Give us a call and in about 15 minutes of phone exchange we can work one up for you to evaluate
