Technical Tips & Information
Drain-All Compressed Air Drain Trap In many facilities, making compressed air is a significant contributor to their electrical bill. Now that the wet compressed air season is upon us, blowing water from air receivers, dryers, and other drain points using either timer operated or manual drains is costing you big money.
Compressed air typically costs $.25 per 1,000 cubic feet to produce. Here are air losses and costs for one month for various hole sizes.
Hole Size Air Loss cubic ft Per Month Lost $ per month
1/32” 45,508 $12.00
1/16” 182,272 $45.00
1/8” 740,210 $187.00
1/4” 2,920,840 $746.00
3/8” 6,671,890 $1,067.00
The Drain-All Model 1700 is an automatic demand actuated drain trap which will drain accumulated water with zero air loss. A float operated magnetically actuated valves controls air flow to a cylinder actuated 1/2” ball valve to drain water, goop, and other trash from your compressed air system.
The unit is designed to sit on the floor next to your drain point which is then connected to the Drain-All 1” inlet connection. Run a 1/2” discharge line to where you wish to discharge the water. Using the supplied 1/4” tubing and valves, connect an air supply and balance unit to the Drain-All and you are done. No electricity is required since it is powered by air pressure.
The Model 1700 is good for air pressures to 170 psig. Other models are offered for other services and gases. At current energy costs, the Drain-All 1700 will pay for itself in one to two months. Quantity discounts are available. Join the thousands of satisfied users in this area using the Model 1700 Drain-All.
