Technical Tips & Information

Dry Air

Does your plant’s compressed air system resemble a high pressure water system? At an inlet air temperature of 75 F and a relative humidity of 75%; a 100 horsepower air compressor will produce 72 gallons of water per day. If this water is not removed, it will be passed along to your plant’s compressed air system.

Dryers, after coolers, separators, filters, and receivers are all devices designed to separate the water from the compressed air. Once this separation process has been accomplished, a second device must be used to remove the water from the device.

Mechanical style float and bucket traps plug up and fail due to lubricants and trash inherent in compressed air systems. Timed blow down devices require that you set the frequency and duration of blow to match the amount of water present in the system. Since temperature and humidity continuously change, this is impossible to accomplish.

Drain-All is a float operated self powered drain unit which uses compressed air to drive an actuator which opens a full port 1/2” ball valve to eliminate the water from the separation device. The unit uses air power to eject the water, is self cleaning on every cycle, and operates automatically without maintenance of any kind.
