Technical Tips & Information
Clean Air and Boiler Efficiency If you are considering a new boiler, EPA rules must be considered in your decision. Current rules for most areas require that boilers with input of more than 10 million BTUs discharge less than 30 ppm of NOx for six months of the year. Depending on boiler efficiency, the rules affect boilers at about 235 horsepower. For boilers capable of burning natural gas and number 2 oil, this requires adding expensive and difficult to maintain extra equipment to the boiler. The air permitting process is also becoming more complex and lengthy.
If your boiler plans require more than 235 HP, a simple solution is to consider using multiple Miura Boilers with less than 10 million BTU input per boiler. The advantages are significant and include:
1. Fuel to steam efficiency over almost the entire range of boiler firing rates of 85% with Miura’s dedicated PLC lead lag system to manage boiler operations.
2. Save the cost and maintenance issues associated with low NOx burners and related equipment.
3. Save the cost, hassle, and potential delays possible when filing for air permits.
4. Reduce maintenance, inspection, and operating costs with state of the art boilers.
5. Remote monitor and operate your boilers through a simple phone line connection.
