Technical Tips & Information

Grundfos CR Series Pumps

Grundfos was the first pump manufacturer ever to create a multistage in-line pump. Known as the CR pump, this innovative design has inspired followers all over the world. Even so, continuous development and innovation ensures that the Grundfos CR remains unmatched.

The CR is renowned for its reliability. And rightly so. The CR design has all the durability that customers expect from a high-quality multistage pump - and then some. They have added unique features to ensure unsurpassed reliability: efficient dry-running protection, a unique cartridge seal that is both hard-wearing and easy to replace, and a full-titanium variant for very demanding environments.

Electricity is the most expensive part of any pump. This simple fact is often overlooked when pumps and prices are compared. It may still come as a surprise to some to learn that the initial purchase price and maintenance costs account for less than 15% of the total cost of owning a pump. This means that electricity accounts for no less than 85% of the total cost! So if you want to save money, you should go for the lowest possible energy consumption. An increase in efficiency translates to impressive cost savings over the life of the pump. Efficiency was gained by:

1. Narrowing the interval between pump sizes
2. A new floating seal ring
3. Enhanced impeller design

How much difference does a new CR series pump make?

1. New cartridge seal increase reliability and allows easier access. The cartridge seal comes in a wide choice of materials and as a flushed seal, double seal, and Cool-Top for temperatures of –40 F to 356 F.

2. Optional LiqTec pump accessory shuts the pump down if it runs dry. Improved pump components to better withstand brief periods of dry running.

3. Durable bearings offered in a wide choice of options for “difficult” liquids enhance the life of CR bearings.

Connection options include-
Flanged
PJE Coupling
Flexi-Clamp
Oval Flange

Material options include-
Titanium
316 SS
304 SS
304 SS/Cast Iron

CR series pumps are offered in 9 sizes-
1/3 to 60 HP
4.5 gpm - 440 gpm and pressures to 258 psig

The CR pump can be customized to meet individual requirements with remarkable ease. Grundfos takes a "mix and match" approach to customization - simply think of the various elements as modules that can be combined to create the perfect pump for you.
