Cut Natural Gas Usage

Are you are currently using natural gas to fire a boiler, produce steam, and then use that steam to heat air for process or HVAC requirements? Steam systems are about 30% efficient when you consider BTUs burned in your boiler as compared to BTUs delivered in your process. About 30% of the energy is lost in the boiler room and the other 40% is lost in your distribution and condensate return systems. Direct and Indirect gas fired heaters can provide savings of 50-70% when compared to steam heaters.

Direct fired gas heaters are 98-99% efficient and place the products of combustion directly into the air stream being heated. The products of combustion would include CO, CO2, NOX, Sox, and water vapor. If these contaminants in your process would affect the product in contact with the air, then a direct fired unit would not be a suitable replacement for steam heated coils.

Indirect fired gas heaters are 80-81% efficient and vent the products of combustion through a stack to an outside area. This makes an indirect gas fired heater a great choice for those applications which will not tolerate any added contaminates in the air stream.

Installation of either type of heater is straight forward with only a gas line and electrical connections being the required. Indirect fired units require an outside vent . Burners are offered in on/off, hi/low/off, and fully modulating versions. Provisions can also be made to fire number 2 oil or propane as a back up fuel.

A major plus is the elimination of steam control valves, trap maintenance issues, and condensate return systems which when combined with fuel savings makes for a very attractive conversion. Contact us for more details.
