Inverted Bucket Traps

Inverted Bucket Traps

The Armstrong and Spirax Sarco inverted bucket steam trap opens and closes based on the difference in density between condensate and the steam. They open and close gently, minimizing wear. Since the bucket is open at the bottom, it resists damage from water hammer, and wear points are heavily reinforced for long life. The inverted bucket has only two moving parts-the valve lever assembly and the bucket. That means no fixed points, no complicated linkage. Nothing to stick, bind or clog. Bucket traps are designed to automatically vent air and CO2 with no cooling effect. The valve and seat are typically at the top of the trap, away from particles of dirt and since the trap is either open or closed, dirt particles pass freely downstream.
