SERVICE RECOMMENDATIONS
These strainers offer complete protection to pumps, meters, traps, valves, and
similar equipment. Installation of a strainer before any mechanical equipment
will ensure trouble free service and avoid costly shutdowns, repairs or
replacement often caused by the introduction of foreign matter in pipes.
BASKETS
Heavy gauge perforated stainless steel baskets with spot welded seams and
handles are normally furnished. Recommended perforations shown below:
STEAM: To 8” 3/64” (.045)
10” up Consult factory
LIQUID: To 4” 1/16” (.062)
5” up 1/8” (.125)
Also available are 5/32”, 3/16”, and 1/4” perforations as well as a large variety of

CONSTRUCTION
These strainers are well designed for medium or coarse straining. The angular
cutaway design of the baskets allows a straight through fl ow and results in
extremely low pressure loss. All sizes feature the fl anged top cover connection
and easy basket removal. Bodies can be supplied with tappings for pressure
gauges. Tapped and plugged NPT drain connection sizes shown on next page.

SELF CLEANING
In strainers with open bottom baskets, merely open the valve or plug connected
to the blowoff outlet to fl ush off accumulated sediment.
CAPACITY
Generously proportioned bodies with baskets that have an open area many
times greater than the corresponding pipe size ensure low pressure loss.
