SERVICE RECOMMENDATIONS
These strainers offer complete protection to pumps, meters, traps,
valves and similar expensive mechanical equipment. Installation of
a strainer before any mechanical equipment will ensure trouble free
service and avoid the costly shutdowns, repairs or replacements
often caused by the introduction of foreign matter in pipe lines.
SCREENS
Steam service strainers usually furnished with 3/64 perforated
heavy gauge stainless steel screens for all sizes through 8. Water
service strainers furnished with 1/16 perforated through 4 size.
5 and above furnished with 1/8 perforations. In addition to a large
variety of perforations other than those normally furnished, mesh
linings and perforated monel are also available. See page B-4.
CONSTRUCTION
Manufactured from 85-5-5-5 bronze (ASTM B62) because of its superior
qualities in high temperature service. Also available in ASTM
B61 (M-metal). Sizes through 4 feature a tapered self aligning
seat. Larger sizes have a machined seat for the screen. All sizes
have a flfl anged blowoff cap. Furnished flfl at faced and drilled.
SELF CLEANING
Self cleaning is accomplished by opening the valve or plug connected
to the blowoff outlet.
CAPACITY
Generously proportioned bodies with screens that have open area
many times greater than the corresponding pipe size ensure low
pressure loss.
BLOWOFF OUTLETS
Tapped NPT, sizes specifi ed on next page. Not normally furnished
plugged.
