SERVICE RECOMMENDATIONS
Designed to ensure complete protection to mechanical equipment from
the injurious effects of dirt, scale, welding particles or other foreign
objects. Ruggedly built for long service in connection with corrosive
fl uids, high pressures and high temperatures.
SCREENS
Stainless steel, spot welded screens normally furnished. See page B-4
for other perforations and wire mesh.

CONSTRUCTION
Extremely heavy, rugged bodies available from stock in type 316
(CF8M) stainless steel. All other alloys available. All sizes contain
generously proportioned screens with a minimum capacity of four times
the corresponding pipe size when standard screens are used. See
page C-2 for pressure drop fi gures. Socket weld bore in accordance
with ANSI B16.11 unless otherwise specifi ed.
SELF CLEANING
Self cleaning is accomplished by opening the valve or plug connected
to the blowoff outlet.
FEATURES
The 861-SS and 862-SS strainers have removable caps, machined
from stainless steel bar stock. Caps are straight threaded and faced
and assembled with a spiral wound graphite fifi lled gasket designed for
high temperature service. TFE gaskets available for low temperature
corrosive applications.
A machined seat in both the body and cap combine to ensure easy
alignment and perfect seating of the screen. Caps available with
or without female tapped blowoff connection. Blowoff connection
normally supplied. No deduction for blind cap. Self cleaning is easily
accomplished by opening the valve or plug connection to the blowoff
outlet. Plugs not normally furnished. The 861-SS-BC and 862-SS-BC
combine the features of the 861 and 862 with added convenience of an
easily removable bolted cap.
